Mold and Odor Removal

Portland and Beaverton Mold and Odor Removal

Available services:

  • Removal of mold from automotive interiors. Permanent removal of mold from seats, carpet, headliner, and door panels.
  • Removal of smoke, pet, urine, dairy, food, and vomit odors. Permanent removal of most disturbing odors.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Can all odors be removed? Not all. If a car has been smoked in for 3+ consecutive years, the smell cannot be completely removed but can be improved enough to satisfy most drivers. Cat urine, if it involves more than 3 incidents, cannot be completely removed without replacement of the affected piece. Exceptionally bad dog odor (ie large dog, frequently in car for 3+ years) cannot be completely removed but can be improved enough to satisfy most drivers.
  • Can all mold and mildew be removed? Yes, but sometimes replacement of interior items is necessary. It’s common for a flooded car to require new carpet padding. Moldy seatbelts cannot be cleaned and must be replaced.
  • Can’t urine and food spills be cleaned with a simple shampoo? No. Shampooing wets the area and allows bacteria to spread deeper into carpet and seat padding. Urine and food spills should be cleaned dry, then treated with a live enzyme that breaks down the bacteria that creates the odor.

Processes:

  • Mold removal. Dismantle car’s interior. Remove seats, carpet, and door panels. Locate and clean mold with vapor steam. Spray mildewcide on infected parts and allow to dry. Discard carpet padding and replace if necessary. Shampoo carpets. Wipe down all interior surfaces. When interior is completely dry, reassemble.
  • Smoke odor removal. Wipe down all interior surfaces with particular attention to the headliner and driver’s area. Shampoo seats, carpets, and floor mats. Spray Valugard’s Odor Eliminator on porous surfaces. Place ozone machine in vehicle for 2 – 3 hours. Be sure to circulate ozone through air conditioner. Ventilate car. Check for smoke odor. Repeat as necessary.
  • Pet odor removal (saliva, sweat, body odor). See smoke odor removal process above.
  • Pet urine odor removal. Park car in dark shop and use black light to locate urine source. Spray live enzyme/bacteria culture, yellow stain removal chemical, and odor neutralizer on urine source. Apply damp towel over work area. Allow to sit for several hours and remove towel. Check for odor. Allow to dry naturally–do not accelerate drying time with heat.
  • Food, dairy, and vomit odor removal. Locate, remove, and vacuum out source of odor. Spray live enzyme on affected area. Allow to air dry naturally.
