Video 2. This shows a healthy CFM of 3900 (manufacturer recommends
3000 - 4000):
What is a Duster 3000?
It's a mobile air filtration unit that filters paint
particles and paint fumes just like a spray booth. It converts a small
room into a mini paint booth. Have a look at the manufacturer's
website here:
http://www.islandcleanair.com/units/3000dd.html
We now rent a 3400 square foot body shop with full spray booth, but this
unit worked great for a few years until we grew large enough to need the
full booth.
We followed this maintenance routine exactly while we had
this Duster.
What is the history of this unit?
I bought it used in 2008 from a body shop in Idaho. Had it shipped
to Oregon. Immediately replaced all filters. Used it for small
repairs: 95% of our work is respraying bumpers. We followed the
manufacturer's maintenance instructions from day 1: clean the filters
per their directions, and replace filters on their schedule.
Here's a photo of our set up:
This was an open space we used to detail cars, sand cars,
park cars, etc. But when we used it as a spray booth we pulled the
blue/white curtain closed and turned on the Duster 3000, thus converting the
space into a spray booth. Worked great.
Yes. We were inspected in 2008 by Washington County Fire Dept.
We showed this setup to the inspector, and passed.
How much are these new?
$6500 plus shipping.
How much is shipping and how do I ship it?
Shipping is $250 - $700 depending on your distance from Portland, OR.
I recommend using a company called Craters and Freighters. They
shipped it from Idaho to Oregon for $350. It was packed in a wood
crate with internal packing materials, was insured, and arrived on time.
